Outdoor portrait sessions for people who want photos that actually look like them.

Personal Lifestyle Photography

You're not looking for stiff headshots or awkward studio poses. You want photos that capture who you actually are—confident, natural, doing what you love in the places that feel like home.

I photograph people the way they actually are—on trails, at the coast, in redwood groves, on ridges. No forced expressions, no artificial lighting, no generic backgrounds. Just you, the landscape, and the light.

Whether you need fresh photos for Instagram, dating profiles that actually represent you, updated images for your personal website, or simply great photos of yourself being yourself, these sessions are about authentic moments in real places.

How Personal Lifestyle Sessions Work

From first contact to final gallery, here's what to expect when you book a personal lifestyle session with me.

During the Session

This isn't "smile at the camera" portrait photography—it's documentation of you being yourself in a place you love.

We might:

  • Walk a favorite trail

  • Explore a coastal bluff

  • Sit in a redwood grove

  • Wander through a park

  • Grab coffee and explore your neighborhood

You set the tone. If you're naturally quiet and contemplative, perfect. If you're energetic and expressive, great. The goal is moments that actually feel like you—not performing a version of yourself for the camera.

I'll give light direction when it helps ("look that way," "walk toward me"), but mostly you just exist in the space. The best portraits happen when you forget about the camera.

Before the Session

We'll talk about what you want these photos for, the vibe you're going for, and locations that match your personality. I'll help you think through what to wear and what kind of moments we'll capture.

What we'll discuss:

  • What you'll use the photos for (Instagram, dating apps, personal website, just for you)

  • The vibe you want (adventurous, contemplative, energetic, relaxed)

  • Locations that feel right for your personality

  • What to wear (I'll send a simple style guide)

  • Activities that feel natural (hiking, reading, exploring, sitting with coffee)

  • Any specific shots you're hoping for

After the Session

Within 2-3 weeks, you'll receive your private online gallery with 20+ professionally edited high-resolution images (Standard Session), 40+ images (Half-Day Session), or 60+ images (Full-Day Session). All images include full print rights for personal use.

You can download, share, post, print, and use them however you want. Perfect for refreshing your entire social media presence, updating all your profiles, or finally having photos of yourself you actually like.

Why People Choose Outdoor Lifestyle Photography

Photos That Actually Look Like You

Studio portraits with fake backgrounds and forced smiles don't capture personality. Outdoor lifestyle sessions show you in your element—where you're comfortable, confident, and genuinely yourself.

Beautiful, Real Locations

Instead of generic studio backgrounds, your photos feature redwood forests, coastal trails, mountain views, and urban parks. The places you already love become the setting for portraits that feel honest and alive.

No Awkward Posing Required

You don't need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. Movement and genuine moments are the whole point. When you're comfortable in the environment, the photos reflect that ease naturally.

Perfect for Modern Use

Whether you're updating your dating profile, refreshing your Instagram, building a personal website, or simply wanting great photos of yourself, these images work everywhere. Natural, authentic portraits beat generic headshots every time.

Why Choose Me for Your Personal Portraits

I'm an outdoor photographer, not a studio photographer. I know Bay Area trails, coastal spots, and hidden parks. I understand how natural light works in different environments and how to make outdoor portraits feel effortless.

I work with your personality, not against it. Introverted and quiet? Perfect. Energetic and expressive? Great. You don't need to perform or be someone you're not. Natural expressions beat forced smiles every time.

I care about the places we photograph. I follow Leave No Trace principles, respect access rules, and help people enjoy these places responsibly while creating beautiful images.

I get what makes portraits work in the modern world. Clean backgrounds, natural light, authentic expressions, variety. Whether you're building a dating profile or refreshing your Instagram, I understand what makes images compelling.

What to Wear for Outdoor Portrait Photos

One of the most common questions I get: "What should I wear?" The good news? You don't need to buy new outfits or stress about perfect styling. Here's what actually matters:

Simple guidance:

  • Choose colors that complement nature (earth tones, blues, greens, creams, rust)

  • Avoid logos, busy patterns, or anything you wouldn't normally wear

  • Dress in layers (Bay Area weather changes quickly)

  • Wear comfortable shoes you can actually walk/hike in

  • Bring 1-2 outfit options for variety

  • Most importantly: wear things that feel like you

I'll send you a detailed style guide once you book.

  • Most people feel this way! That's exactly why we don't do traditional "posing." You'll be walking, exploring, and moving naturally. I'll give light direction when helpful, but you're not performing for the camera—you're just being yourself in a beautiful place.

  • Absolutely. If there's something that feels like "you"—a book, coffee, climbing gear, a bike, your dog—bring it. The more natural and authentic the activity, the better the photos.

  • Golden hour (the hour before sunset) creates the most beautiful, flattering light. But sunrise, overcast days, and even midday in forests all work beautifully. We'll discuss timing based on the location and your schedule.

  • Standard turnaround is 2-3 weeks. You'll receive a link to your private online gallery where you can view, download, and share all your high-resolution images. Rush delivery (5-7 days) is available for $200 if needed.

  • Yes! All images include full print rights for personal use, which includes dating profiles (Hinge, Bumble, etc.), Instagram, LinkedIn, personal websites, and prints. Post, share, and use them freely.

  • Light fog and clouds often create beautiful, moody portraits. But if conditions are unsafe or truly unworkable, we'll reschedule at no charge. I monitor forecasts closely and will reach out in advance if I have concerns.

  • Nope! That's my job to guide. You just need to show up as yourself and be willing to walk around, explore, and exist in the space. The best portraits happen when you're not thinking about posing.
